A popular Albanian group from the period preceding the fall of the country's hardline Communist regime. The group performed songs and instrumental pieces based on folk music from across Albania and Kosovo, including many songs from central and northern parts of Albania. The songs were often played in a deliberately up-tempo style and in the absence of foreign pop music these performances took the place of more conventional popular music.
The group had many different line-ups throughout the years in common with other state folk and dance ensembles from across Eastern Europe. It is also clear that the group performed overseas on a number of occasions.
