Biografia
He finished music high school in Prizren (1966–70) and continued studies in music theory and pedagogy at the Academy of Music in Zagreb (1972). He also went through higher studies in conducting and composition at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo (1972–6). He graduated with Josip Magdic (1981). He began postgraduate studies in composition in France Paris (1982–3), which he then continued in Skopje under Toma Prosev (1986–7). After completing his studies, Gjevelekaj began working as a teacher in a primary school in Sarajevo (1972–6) and later in the music high school in Prizren (1976–7). He was a director of the symphonic orchestra at Radio Television of Prishtina. In 2002 he started teaching at the Music Conservatory in Grasse, France. His works have been performed in the countries of the former Yugoslavia and beyond, and have received several prizes. His residence in France exposed him to the styles that were developing at that time in Europe and his works exhibit the influence of Western European modern and contemporary music.
